Root cause medicine

Nutritional therapy focuses on finding and resolving the root of the issue rather than only treating symptoms, this is what is referred to as "root-cause resolution". It's the distinction between shutting off the tap of an overflowing bath rather than merely mopping up the puddles, continuously.

Our current health service system is a blessing for acute care and emergencies. But nowadays, the majority of illnesses in both adults and children are chronic, and often unsupported or undiagnosable. The present system focuses on diagnosis followed by medication to reduce symptoms; it tells us what the issue is, but not why the issue came about in the first place and therefore, how it can be resolved.

In naturopathic medicine, we are in search of the bigger picture. By taking the time to understand you as an individual and paying attention to what is happening in your life, we can gain a all-round holistic approach to supporting you. Finding the root of the issue is more important to us than making a diagnosis.

The process of restoring health appears differently when viewed through a naturopathic medicine lens. In order to deliver long-lasting, sustainable recovery, we're trying to figure out how we can assist the body in repairing itself and regaining optimal function for all the systems that make up the body.

About Florence

I am a naturopathic nutritional therapist, practising root cause medicine with individuals in Bristol UK, as well as nationwide via Zoom.

Since beginning my journey into naturopathic medicine I have become especially interested in the areas of gut health, women’s health, as well as the “unexplained” or undiagnosed conditions.

I feel very lucky to have spent my school years at a Waldorf Steiner School. Waldorf education has its roots in a spiritual-scientific philosophy, whereby the human being is a threefold being of spirit, soul, and body.
I incorporate this philosophy into my practice even now, believing that every body should be treated as an individual, supporting their spirit, soul and body in a holistic and well-rounded way.

My story

From the day I was born I suffered from eczema, throughout my childhood and into my twenties. Adolescence also brought with it severe acne and low self esteem as a result. On top of this, I was prone to all kinds of allergies and inflammatory responses, from heat rash to contact dermatitis. Visits to the GP were a common thing, to be given a stronger and stronger topical cream each time, as the previous one had stopped working. By my mid-twenties I had tried every kind of cream and ointment on the market before I began doing my own research into natural solutions. This is when I discovered the world of natural medicine that focused on finding the root cause of a condition. I booked an appointment to visit my local nutritional therapy practitioner. It only took two consultations (and a few exchanged emails) for me to realise that I had been given the answer I’d always wanted to hear, and the knowledge to be able to take myself on a journey to rebalance my body. It all made so much sense to me to hear it in this way. After a lifetime of believing that the problem was merely just my skin, I learned just how wrong I was, in fact it all began and ended with my gut.

Fast forward 6 months and I was more or less completely eczema and acne free, and so very overwhelmed with joy for it. On top of this, I had the fire in me to want to study this type of root cause medicine and share the same empowering experience with my very own clients.
So here we are, I look forward to hearing from you and hearing your story - wherever you are on your journey right now, whatever kind of journey it is, let me support you on your journey to optimal health.
